Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to give students the essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments. This program utilizes state- commission- mandated topics and methods of instruction. General subjects include, but are not limited to: criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, and alcoholic beverage laws; investigative, patrol, custody, and court procedures: emergency response and ethics and community relations.

Successful graduates receive a certificate and are qualified to take certification examinations mandated by the North Carolina criminal justice education and training standards commission.

  • Firearms Training and Qualification 6 Hours
  • JMST: A Juvenile – Now What? 2 Hours
  • Legal Update 4 Hours
  • Officer Safety: The First Five Minutes 4 Hour

Topic of Choice

  • Law Enforcement Intelligence Update 2 Hours
  • Officer Safety: Responding to Crimes Off-Duty 2 Hours
  • Recognizing the Signs: Pre-assaultive and Deceptive Behaviors 4 Hours
  • Bloodborne 2 Hours
  • Haz-Mat 2 Hours
