The Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum prepares graduates to work in direct patient care settings under supervision of physical therapists. Assistants work to improve or restore function by alleviation or prevention of physical impairment and perform other essential activities in a physical therapy department.

Course work includes normal human anatomy and physiology, the consequences of disease or injury, and physical therapy treatment of a variety of patient conditions affecting humans throughout the lifespan.

The Nash Community College Physical Therapist Assistant·program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association. Upon receiving your Associate of Applied Science degree from the College, the graduate is eligible to sit for the Physical Therapist Assistant licensure examination. Successfully meeting licensure requirements allows the graduate to work as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

The Physical Therapist Assistant program requires students to complete a program application. Applications must be submitted to the Health Sciences Department by May 20, 2013.·
