Certification / Recertification
Students must be 21 years old to become certified with the State of NC as a vehicle escort driver. Course components consist of defensive driving, escort driver requirements, skills training, and an examination.
The 8-hour Initial Certification Course or 4-hour Recertification Course satisfies the requirements set by the North Carolina Department of Transportation to certify Oversize-Overweight load escort vehicle drivers. Escort Driver Certification is valid for four years.
Preregistration and $66 Prepayment Are Required Before the Class Date. Please Write the Class Date You Want on the Registration Form.
VEHICLE ESCORT DRIVER Registration Fee: $66.00
Refunds: 100% refund is given if the student drops the class by 4:30 pm on the Thursday BEFORE, by calling (252)451-8216 or (252)451-8233. No refund or credit is given if the student does not call to drop before the start date and/or does not attend the class.
Four ways to Register
- In Person: Register in the Continuing Education Department, located on the second floor of the Business and Industry Center, during regular business hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm and Friday: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Drop Box: The registration form and fee may be deposited in the Drop Box located on the first floor of the Business & Industry Center beside the Cashier Window, during campus operating hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 10:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am – 3:30 pm
- By Mail: Mail registration form & fee to NCC Continuing Education, PO Box 7488, Rocky Mount, NC 27804
- By Fax: Fax registration form & credit card number, with expiration date, to (252)451-8451. Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted.
