This program will prepare you for entry-level positions in legal or government-related offices. It also provides professional development for those currently employed.
Coursework includes terminology, operational procedures, preparation and transcription of documents, computer software and court related functions as they relate to the legal office profession. Emphasis is placed on the development of accuracy, organizational skills, discretion, and professionalism.
An office systems technology degree program is ideal for the student who wants a general business basics overview, but who also understands the importance of technology in the office. This degree program combines both the academic and the practical when it comes to instilling the skills needed to serve in an administrative role.
Job opportunities
Graduates should qualify for employment in corporate legal departments, private practices and city, state and federal government offices. With appropriate work experience, graduates may apply for certification as a Professional Legal Secretary (PLS).
