(Rocky Mount, NC)) In a recent ceremony, Nash Community College recognized Nurse Aide I and II and EMT Basic graduates. The Nurse Aide I class introduces basic nursing skills required to provide personal care for patients in a health care setting. Nurse Aide I graduates are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP or NACES) Examination.

The Nurse Aide II class prepares students to perform more complex skills for patients regardless of the setting. Nurse Aide II graduates are eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide II with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing.

Ten students were recognized for completing the EMT-Basic class. The EMT-Basic course is designed to train individuals to become emergency medical personnel. Students learn patient assessments, basic life support techniques, CPR including AED use, airway management with basic and advanced airway with oxygen administration, hemorrhage control, treating shock, bandaging/dressing, splinting, treating traumatic injuries, childbirth, lifting/moving techniques, transferring of patients to medical facilities, treating environmental emergencies and basic life support for medical emergencies.
