This seminar will help you understand the difference between cash basis and accrual basis of accounting and single versus double entry bookkeeping. We’ll talk about calculating and recording payroll taxes and sales tax and you’ll get hands-on experience in preparing a financial statements, including cash flow, income and expense statements, and balance sheets.

Did you know that small businesses are just as likely if not more so than large corporations to be victims of identity theft? Join us as we learn some tips and “debunk” some myths about identity theft, frauds, and scams. Nimasheena Burns, from the NC Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, will advise you how to protect yourself and your good name as you go about your daily routines of working, shopping, and doing business. (A light lunch will be served)

Presenter: A Tar Heel native, Nimasheena graduated with a double degree in Political Science and Communications and a Masters in Public Administration. She serves as Outreach Specialist at the NC Department of Justice in the Victims and Citizens Service Section. She handles outreach and research for a myriad of issues affecting the state’s citizens. Most notable, Ms. Burns gives presentations on identity theft, frauds, scams, online scams, and red flag violations.
