The NCC Student Government Association invites students, faculty and staff to the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony with guest speakers Sgt. Carlos Ricks from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office and Nashville Fire Chief Randy Goodbrod. Light refreshments will be served in the Brown Auditorium following the ceremony.

Tar River Reads Book Discussion (12:00PM - 1:00PM)

Tar River Reads is a one book, one community program in its second year. Book clubs, students at Nash Community College and NC Wesleyan, and members of the community at large will be reading Walking Across Egypt by Clyde Edgerton during September.

Events held on the Nash Community College campus include:

  • A brown bag book discussion on September 12 from 12:00-1:00 pm in the library. Bring your lunch and meet with other staff, faculty, and students to discuss the book.
  • A breakfast discussion on September 19 from 9:00-10:00 for a second opportunity to discuss the book.
  • A movie presentation of "Walking Across Egypt" starring Ellen Burstyn and Jonathan Taylor Thomas followed by a comparison of the book and movie versions.

This seminar will show you how to better handle tasks, people and things in life that consume your time. The program will include: understanding how much time you really have; planning on purpose and planning with a purpose; setting and tracking priorities; are you trying to do too much?; timelines and deadlines; how to do three things at once; what to do in times of crisis and conflict; how to handle the information avalanche; getting it done and having a life.
