Important Notice About Student Email

Nash Community College will be completely converting from Campus Cruiser email to Student Email on August 1, 2012. As a result, faculty, staff and students will no longer be able to access their Campus Cruiser accounts and any files associated with these accounts. If you have files that you wish to save from your Campus Cruiser accounts, you will need to download and save those files to your computer or USB drive or email the files to a personal email account. (You will NOT be able to forward them to your new Nash CC account.)

Tax Free Weekend!!

Enjoy tax-free purchasing in the NCC Bookstore on Friday, August 3 from 8am – 4pm and Saturday, August 4 from 9am – 3pm and via the NCC Online Bookstore from 12:01am Friday, August 3 until 11:59pm August 5. Tax-free items include: Clothing and school supplies of $100 or less per item; school instructional materials of $300 or less per item; computers of $3,500 or less per item; and computer supplies of $250 or less per item.

Benvenue Alumni Association Establishes Legacy at Nash Community College

Rocky Mount, NC – At a recent reunion for the classes of 1936 through 1966, the Benvenue Alumni Association approved the establishment of the Benvenue Alumni Association Scholarship Endowment at Nash Community College. A scholarship exploratory committee presented the recommendation to the association at the event. This scholarship fund reflects the alumni’s commitment to education and their belief in preparing the citizens of the Nash/Rocky Mount area to meet the community’s need for a skilled workforce. NCC Student Nurses Purchase Air Conditioner for Patient

Nash Community College second year Nursing students have taken patient care to a new level. During a recent home visit for their Nash County Health Department clinical rotation, they met a patient whose family had no air conditioning in their home. “The students chose to use NCC Student Nursing Association funds to purchase a window air conditioning unit for the family. Their funds allowed them to purchase two additional units in case the need arises again,” NCC Nursing Instructor Tina Treish said. Continue reading

Reach Out Rocky Mount Awards NCC Foundation $39,761.49

Reach Out Rocky Mount’s 2012 Fun Run for Charities awarded the Nash Community College Foundation $39,761.49 during a ceremony at the Booker T. Washington Theatre on July 17, 2012. The NCC Foundation received $33,745.05 in gifts and a $6,016.44 match by Reach Out Rocky Mount. The Foundation will use the funds to assist deserving students with scholarships. Continue reading

NCC Hosts Engineering Week

Engineering Week, an annual event at Nash Community College, was held June 11-15th. The week was sponsored by the NCC Foundation and provided an opportunity for 17 local middle school and high school teachers and counselors to test-drive NCC Engineering courses in order to inform their students about what Nash Community College has to offer. Forty-eight teachers and counselors have participated in Engineering Week since it began in 2007. Continue reading

NCC Honors Retirees

Nash Community College recently honored two longtime employees for their retirement.

Lynette Finch retired from Nash Community College on March 31, 2012 with 42 years of service. During her tenure, she held positions as Librarian, Director of Learning Resources, Associate Dean of Learning Resources and most recently, Dean of Learning Resources. Finch earned Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from East Carolina University, Masters of Arts degrees from North Carolina Central University and North Carolina State University and studied at Oxford University in England. She received Nash Community College’s National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) award in 2000.

Claudia Bowden retired on April 30, 2012 with 36 years of service having served as Administrative Secretary, Coordinator of Immured Groups and most recently, Extension Data/Community Service Coordinator. She received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Business Administration at Nash Community College and was awarded the NISOD Award in 2002. Continue reading
