NCC Green Day Celebration

Earth Day is just around the corner. Many activities are going on around the world as well as in our communities. Please get involved. We only have one Earth, and we need to keep it healthy for all living things.
To celebrate Earth Day, Nash Community College faculty, staff, and students annually participate in “Green Day” activities. On Wednesday, April 17th, you are encouraged to wear green to celebrate this year’s “Green Day”. Please encourage everyone to participate in the two on campus events. At 2:00pm, everyone will meet at the amphitheater for the tree planting ceremony.
Immediately following the tree planting, we will grab some gloves and the traditional orange vests and pick up litter along the roadside.
This year’s guest speaker at the tree planting ceremony will be Ms. Margaret Sowerwine, Chair of the Medoc Group of the North Carolina Sierra Club. Join us as we learn about the North Carolina Sierra Club and how they help educate the public about environmental awareness.
For the litter pick up, NCC is responsible for picking up litter from the railroad track near Nash Central High School to the stoplight where you turn to go to Northern Nash High School. If everyone participates, we will be able to pick up litter along the entire area.
Please review the following Guidelines for Litter Pick-up document as well as visit the two websites with the safety videos. You will be required to sign a form stating your have reviewed these items before you can participate.
