Communities in Schools Eighth Graders Visit NCC

Nash Community College Vice President for Instruction and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Trent Mohrbutter welcomed approximately 40 eighth graders from Parker and Edwards Middle Schools for a College Prep Tour at Nash Community College this week. The students are participants in the Communities in Schools College Access Program which identifies students, beginning in the seventh grade, who show potential for academic success. These students continue through the program until high school graduation. Upon graduation, they receive a last dollar scholarship to continue pursuing their education.

“The goal of the visit was to urge students to begin thinking about which path they might take as they begin high school next year,” NCC Director of Admissions Stephanie Brown said. Students experienced Nash Community College programs through presentations in the Medical Assisting, College Transfer, Biology, Basic Law Enforcement Training, Manufacturing and Cosmetology programs and a tour of the NCC Library. “We want them to begin dreaming big and we encourage them to make higher education part of that dreaming and planning.”

Nash Community College offers a variety of degree, diploma, certificate and Continuing Education options. For more information, or to schedule a tour as an individual or group, please call 252-451-8235. Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/nashcommunitycollege.
