English Department Awarded for Innovation

The Nash Community College English Department was recently awarded for Instructional Innovation after their implementation of team teaching in Expository Writing courses. Incorporating new teaching and learning strategies in the classroom has led to a measurable increase in student success. The Instructional Innovation Award was established by the NCC Foundation to annually recognize and promote faculty and staff driven activities that positively impact classroom instruction. The focus of the award is to encourage ideas and projects that demonstrate innovation and enhance students’ learning experiences. Faculty and staff members apply for the award by outlining the benefits of the project they are pursuing. The applications are reviewed by a committee of peers and the best innovation program is selected to receive the award. The program selected receives $1,000 as start-up funding or continued program enhancement.
