59 New Members Inducted Into Gamma Beta Phi

Referencing William Shakespeare’s play, Henry the Fifth, Joshua Jones, Nash Community College Gamma Beta Phi Vice President of Membership, addressed those in attendance at the College’s Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society Fall Induction Ceremony. “We are like many arrows, each coming from a different source, each with unique talents and varied interests; but as members of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, we all promise to support one another and to focus our energies on the Society’s goals,” Jones said. Held in the College’s Business and Industry Center on the evening of October 30, the Ceremony pledged in 59 new members to its chapter.

Nash Community College alumnus and recipient of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society Alumnus Honors Award, Angel Collie was recognized by Gamma Beta Phi during the Ceremony. Succeeding presentation of a plaque from the Honor Society, Collie shared his appreciation of being honored and some fond memories from his time as a student at the College, which he referred to as “the place that gave him a strong foundation.”

Nationally, Gamma Beta Phi has approximately 40,000 active student members in its comprised chapters. Nash Community College Chapter members must maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA and have completed 12 or more semester hours of college level work toward a degree. Each year, the NCC Gamma Beta Phi chapter sponsors an adopt-a-grandparent program for the residents of Trinity Retirement Villas in Nashville, where members visit several times throughout the year. At the holidays, the group provides gifts for each resident fulfilling their wish lists as much as possible. NCC’s Gamma Beta Phi members have worked with Trinity Villas for more than 15 years. Residents look forward to seeing the students during each visit, and the students enjoy helping others through this and other service projects.
