NCC Director of Cosmetology Recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award

Nash Community College Director of Cosmetology, Karey D. Parker was recognized at the October meeting of the North Carolina Community College Cosmetology Instructors Association (NCCCCIA) as one of six recipients of a Lifetime Achievement Award. The meeting was held at the Raleigh Convention Center as part of the North Carolina Community College System Conference. Recognition was allocated to Karey for her 20 plus years of service in the Cosmetology field, in addition to her service and contributions made to the NCCCCIA.

Karey’s educational achievements include an Associate in Applied Science Degree, Cosmetology, Associate in Applied Science Degree, General Occupational Technology, graduating from the Hair Styling Academy of Rocky Mount, and earning a Cosmetology Instructor’s Certificate, Licensed Cosmetologist, Double Certification, from the NC State Board of Cosmetic Art. She has also served as the NCCCIA Secretary and is known in the surrounding community for her involvement with fashion and hair shows. Additionally, Karey is a selected member of the Educational Leadership Academy at Nash Community College.

This is the first year the NCCCCIA has bestowed this award. Karey, having no prior knowledge of this scheduled accolade, was both surprised and appreciative of the acknowledgement. She states, “It is an honor to be recognized by my peers. I am grateful and happy that my life took this turn for such a great profession, especially to have met so many wonderful people along the way. The Cosmetic Art Industry and Nash Community College both have been a blessing in my life.  It has been my pleasure to humbly serve in this position.”
