NCC Students Sign Completion Commitment

IMG_20141119_182608240On November 19, 1918, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society was founded. The Beta
Upsilon Delta Chapter at Nash Community College, founded 2012, celebrated
by hosting a Community College Completion Challenge Signing Event in the college’s Midway Cafe. The event was hosted by Nash Community College’s Beta Upsilon Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa along with the support of the Nash Community College Alumni Association and college administrators. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members serve as the student arm of the Community College Completion Challenge, a national education initiative.

The Commitment to Community College Completion is a national effort to encourage students to complete their degrees. This pledge has so far been signed by 200 Nash
Community College students. All students are urged to take the pledge. The Commitment to Completion at Nash Community College is one of the major
projects for the Chapter this year.

The Beta Upsilon Delta Chapter is dedicated to helping fellow students
toward their graduation goals through tutoring and mentoring efforts.
Students who sign the pledge will be contacted by Phi Theta Kappa members
to encourage positive study habits and campus involvement.

Beta Upsilon Delta is also gearing up for a new member induction social
which will be held on December 10. Approximately 20 new members are
expected to join this prestigious honor society this semester. Students
must have a 3.50 or better grade point average and 12 or more semester
hours of college-level work toward a degree at Nash Community College to be
eligible to join. The Beta Upsilon Delta Chapter also welcomed twenty-six
new members earlier this year. {Related Story}
