Golden Leaf Scholarship

The Golden Leaf Continuing Education scholarship provides up to $250 for individuals with a financial need who reside in a tobacco-dependent and/or economically distressed county in North Carolina. Additional criteria must be met as well. The eligible training courses are CDL Truck Driver Training, Underground Electric Line Construction, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Initial, Advanced, Paramedic, Nurse Aide I & II, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Veterinary Assistant, Firefighter Academy, HVAC, Manicurist/Nail Technology, Cosmetology Instructor Training, and Natural Hair Care Specialist.

Students should submit the Golden Leaf Scholarship Application and current tax information to the Continuing Education Department located on the second floor of the Williams S. Carver Continuing Education building or email to Melissa Pearce at mlpearce766@nashcc.edu.

Project Skill-UP Scholarship

The Project Skill-UP scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for those adversely affected by the change in the tobacco industry and are seeking to upgrade current job-related skills. The eligible training courses are CDL Truck Driver Training, Underground Electric Line Construction, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Initial, Advanced, Paramedic, Nurse Aide I & II, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Veterinary Assistant, Firefighter Academy, HVAC, Manicurist/Nail Technology, Cosmetology Instructor Training, and Natural Hair Care Specialist.

The Project Skill-UP scholarship provides up to $500 to applicants who meet the following criteria.

  • Current/former tobacco farmer, farm worker, or tobacco manufacturing employee
  • First generation student of current/former tobacco farmer, farm worker or tobacco manufacturing employee
  • Enrolling in the Veterinary Assistant class

Students should submit the Project Skill-UP application to the Continuing Education Department located on the second floor of the Williams S. Carver Continuing Education building or email to Melissa Pearce at mlpearce766@nashcc.edu.

This scholarship is supported by the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.

State Employee Credit Union (SECU) Scholarship

SECU Foundation has established the SECU Bridge to Career Program to help remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials that leads to sustainable wages. The eligible training courses are CDL Truck Driver Training, Underground Electric Line Construction, and Nurse Aide I & II.

To receive this $500 scholarship, an individual must meet the following criteria.

  • U.S. citizen and a North Carolina resident
  • Be part of one of the following target groups: unemployed or underemployed, members of the NC National Guard, military veterans and spouses, or underserved populations in a specific workforce sector or area
  • Not be a Director, employee, or family member of an employee of the State Employees’ Credit Union or SECU Foundation

Students should submit the SECU application to the Continuing Education Department located on the second floor of the Williams S. Carver Continuing Education building or email to Melissa Pearce at mlpearce766@nashcc.edu.
