Golden Leaf Scholarship

The Golden Leaf Continuing Education scholarship provides up to $250 for those individuals with a financial need who reside in a tobacco-dependent and/or economically distressed county. Additional criteria must be met as well. The eligible training courses are CDL Truck Driver Training, Cosmetology Instructor Training, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic, EMT to Nurse Aide, Firefighter Academy, HVAC, Manicurist/Nail Technology, Nurse Aide I or II, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, and Veterinary Assistant.

Students should submit the Golden Leaf Scholarship Application and current tax information to the Continuing Education Department located on the second floor of the Continuing Education and Public Services building. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Project Skill-UP Scholarship

The Project Skill-UP scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for students seeking to upgrade current job-related skills. The eligible training courses are Veterinary Assistance, Pharmacy Technician, Underground Electric Line Construction, CDL Truck Driver Training, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician Initial, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Initial, Paramedic Initial, Nurse Aide, Firefighter Academy, HVAC, Manicurist/Nail Technology, Cosmetology Instructor Training, Natural Hair Care and Phlebotomy.

To be considered for the Project Skill-UP scholarship, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Nash, Edgecombe, Franklin, Halifax or Wilson County; be at least 18 years of age; be unemployed or underemployed; and either the student or immediate family member must have been affected by loss of job in the tobacco or agricultural industry.

Students should submit the Project Skill-UP application to the Continuing Education Department located on the second floor of the Continuing Education and Public Services building. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

This scholarship is supported by the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.
