Key Points During Graduation

  1. Graduation Processional at 6:00 pm*
Graduates will enter at the beginning of the processional “Pomp and Circumstance.”
  2. Invocation
Men remove mortarboard at the beginning of the invocation and replace at the end.
  3. Introduction of Candidates for Presentation of Degrees and Diplomas
Graduates will stand by row. Look for a signal from the Dean at the front right of the stage for a cue to stand. Walk across the stage when your name is called. Shake with your right hand and receive diploma with your left hand. Be sure to turn and smile for the photographer. Return to your seat after receiving your degree or diploma and sit down.
Graduation is a dignified ceremony. The College requests that you cheer appropriately and not interrupt the next graduate’s name being announced.
  4. Conferring of Degrees
After degrees are conferred by the President, graduates will be instructed to turn their tassel. Tassels are turned from right to left.
  5. Benediction
Men remove mortarboard at the beginning and replace at the end.
  6. Recessional
Follow the Student Marshall: You will be led into the courtyard between the Business and Industry Center and A Building. If raining, you will exit right into the foyer. Please do not wait on or near the steps because family and guests will need to exit the building.
