Nurses Pinning Ceremony

Thursday, May 11, 2017
Business and Industry Center (Brown Auditorium) – 7:30 p.m.

  • Arrive no later than 7:00 p.m.
  • There will be a group photo taken prior to the pinning ceremony
  • Final line up check 7:15 pm
  • Proper placement in line is very important; being late could jeopardize your participation in the graduation processional.
  • Dress code : white uniforms with caps for graduates/blue uniforms for marshals
  • There will be a room available for dressing
  • Additional details will be shared at pinning practice

Key Points During Nurses Pinning

  1. Pinning Processional at 7:30 pm*
    Graduates will enter at the beginning of the processional “Pomp and Circumstances.”
  2. Invocation
  3. Introduction of Candidates for Presentation of Degrees and Diplomas
    Graduates will stand by row. Look for a signal from Cheryle Traish at the front of the stage for a cue to stand.
    Line up on side of stage
    Walk across the stage when your name is called. Stop at pinning podium to be pinned. Turn towards audience. Be sure to turn and smile for the photographer. Shake hands of guests on stage Return to your seat and remain standing.

  5. Recessional
    Follow the Student Marshall, you will be led into the courtyard between the Business and Industry Center and A Building. If raining, you will exit right into the foyer. Please do not wait on or near the steps because family and guests will need to exit the building.

How many tickets do I get?
Tickets are not required.

How long does the Nurse’s Pinning Ceremony last?
Pinning normally lasts about an hour.

Where do I line up for graduation?

At the opposite end of building from the receptionist desk in the Business and Industry Center.

What if I cannot make it to practice?
Please e-mail Tywana Lawson tlawson@nashcc.edu to let the Health Sciences Department know that you will not be available to attend practice.

Can my family take pictures during the ceremony?
Yes, however your family should not disturb others in the process. A professional photographer will take pictures at the event. The electronic version of the photo will be made available on the Nash Community College Alumni Facebook page.

Where does my family wait for the Nurse’s Pinning Ceremony?
Please wait in the lobby area of the Business and Industry Center (near the reception desk), until the area is cleared from the Adult High School ceremony. Family members and guests will then be admitted to the room where the ceremony will take place.
