The Customized Training Program provides training assistance for full-time production and direct customer services positions for new and existing companies in North Carolina. The program is dedicated to the enhancement of workforce skills essential to successful employment. Eligible companies must demonstrate two of the following criteria: 1) The business is making an appreciable capital investment; 2) The business is deploying new technology; 3) The business is creating jobs, expanding an existing workforce, or enhancing the productivity and profitability of the operations within the State; and 4) The skills of the workforce will be enhanced by the assistance.

The Customized Industry Training (CIT) Program provides training to existing companies in North Carolina to help retrain current employees, create new job opportunities, and provide technological investments for the state. Before a business or industry qualifies to receive assistance under the CIT Program, the President of the NC Community College System must determine that (1) the business is making an appreciable capital investment; (2) the business is deploying new technology; and (3) the skills of the workers will be enhanced by the assistance. The allocation will be made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the NCCCS President with the recommendation of the Vice-President of Economic and Workforce Development.
