Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to give students the essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments. This program utilizes state- commission- mandated topics and methods of instruction. General subjects include, but are not limited to: criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, and alcoholic beverage laws; investigative, patrol, custody, and court procedures: emergency response and ethics and community relations. Graduates receive a certificate and are qualified to take certification examinations mandated by the North Carolina criminal justice education and training standards commission.
Advanced Gang Investigations
January 10-12, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, Continuing Education & Public Services Building, Room 8123. Seats 70 students.
This course will provide advanced level Street Gang Investigations training for sworn street gang investigators, detention officers, corrections officers, intelligence analysts, security threat group investigators and other law enforcement personnel assigned to gang investigations who have had two or more years of experience in the field. Successful completion of this course requires attendance at all instructional sessions. After successful completion of the course the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from the North Carolina Gang Investigators Association. Course topics include:
Enrollment in this course is restricted to sworn Law Enforcement Officers and Criminal Justice Professionals. This class is free to Law Enforcement Officers and Criminal Justice Professionals that fit the criteria in the Tuition and Fee Waivers of G.S. Chapter 115B-1(3).
