Nash Community College is proud to announce the appointment of Amy Strickland Pearson to its Board of Trustees. A dedicated business leader and lifelong resident of Eastern North Carolina, Pearson brings a unique blend of operational expertise, community commitment and firsthand experience with the state’s community college system to her new role. She is also a proud alumna of the North Carolina Community College System whose appointment reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to servant leadership and regional engagement.
Pearson currently serves as the President of Rudy’s Truck & Trailer, Inc., a family-owned business based in Bailey, N.C., that has proudly served the region since it opened in 1987. Under her leadership, the business has grown to become a trusted provider of heavy-duty truck and trailer repair services. Her entrepreneurial journey also includes ventures in autobody repair, business computer programming, restaurant food service, rural waste management, and real estate rentals.
“She understands firsthand the value of technical education and community engagement,” said Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, president of NCC. “Her insight and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to expand opportunities for students and build strong connections with local industries.”
A graduate of Southern Nash High School and Wilson Community College, where she earned an Associates in Business Computer Programming, Pearson is deeply connected to the mission and impact of community colleges.
“I am a servant at heart,” Pearson said. “Joining the Board of Trustees at Nash Community College falls into a natural flow of my love for knowledge, advancement, and enrichment for those around me. While here, my desire is to help make a difference for students who walk through the doors of the college. While the college is great, I’m believing for even better things to come at NCC. I’m excited to be a part!”
Pearson’s record of community service spans more than 35 years. She has served as treasurer for multiple nonprofit organizations and held roles with the Bailey Elementary PTO, Southern Nash County Youth Association, S.N.A.C.K.S., Bailey Area Ministries, A Touch of the Father’s Love, and the Bailey Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of Wave Church in Wilson, where she finds great joy in sharing the gospel and serving others.
Pearson is married to her husband, David. Together, they have three children and seven grandchildren.
Her appointment to the Board of Trustees is a welcome addition as Nash Community College looks toward the future with a focus on student success, workforce development, and community impact.
