Seven students from Nash Community College’s Electric Line Construction Technology program had the unique opportunity to engage directly with seasoned professionals at the 2025 Duke Energy Carolinas Lineman’s Rodeo, held in New Hill, North Carolina. This event, a precursor to the esteemed International Lineman’s Rodeo, showcases the skills and dedication of electrical lineworkers through rigorous competitions in equipment repair, pole climbing, and simulated rescue operations. During the rodeo, the students worked side by side with Duke Energy’s experienced lineworkers, observing firsthand the precision and teamwork required in the field. They also engaged in small group discussions with Duke Energy’s leadership team, exploring the company’s culture, career pathways, and hiring opportunities.
