Nash Community College proudly reinstated its chapter of the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society this semester and hosted a formal induction ceremony celebrating 44 new student members for their academic excellence, commitment to service, and demonstration of strong character.
This milestone event, held on campus, marked the revitalization of the honor society, which had gone inactive in recent years. Under the guidance of NCC Biology Instructor and Chapter Advisor, Anna Ward, the ceremony celebrated student achievement and leadership.
“Reestablishing Gamma Beta Phi at Nash is a major step in recognizing the excellence our students exhibit daily,” said Ward. “These inductees represent the best of our academic and service-minded community. I am thrilled to support them as they lead by example on campus.”
The 2025–2026 Executive Board was also introduced, featuring:
- President: Kaden Patterson
- Vice President: Jason Samuels
- Treasurer: Sarah Strickland
- Secretary: Dixie Fowler
NCC Vice President of Instruction and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Amy Harrell, emphasized the significance of the occasion in recognizing student achievement.
“Being able to honor our high achieving students is always rewarding,” said Dr. Harrell. “We look forward to seeing the impact these students will make on our campus through their service to their classmates and the institutions.”
NCC President Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, applauded the students and leadership involved in the relaunch.
“It’s always exciting to see a new generation of Nighthawks rise to the challenge of leadership and service. The reactivation of Gamma Beta Phi reinforces our commitment to academic excellence and student achievement across campus.”
The keynote address was delivered virtually by Mr. James Smith, National Executive Committee Member of Gamma Beta Phi and Chapter Advisor at Troy University Montgomery, underscoring the society’s national network and lifelong impact.
