The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less pursue higher education by fully covering tuition and fees at Nash Community College.

As a student at Nash Community College, you can receive at least $3,000. The scholarship award can be used for tuition, fees, and books. Students with the greatest need for financial aid could qualify for additional funding to help make paying for college more manageable. This is a great opportunity to capitalize on your goal of attending college to get the education and skills needed to ensure you have the tools to meet your full potential.

Who is eligible to receive the NEXTNC Scholarship?

To receive the Next NC Scholarship, you must be:

  • A North Carolina resident who is eligible for in-state tuition
  • A high school graduate (high school equivalency completers are eligible)
  • From a household with an annual Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less
  • Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • To receive the full benefit of this scholarship, students should take a full-time course schedule (12 credit hours per semester).
  • Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards of Nash Community College
  • IMPORTANT: Student has to have completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA
    • Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below 7,500 (once complete, the financial aid office will determine and confirm eligibility.)

Refunds to students receiving Title IV federal funds will be handled in the same manner as specified in the institutional refund policy. The refund policy of the College shall be consistent with the North Carolina Administrative Code and may designate different refund specifications for curriculum and continuing education. Information regarding refunds may be obtained from the Business Office.

A student may be required to repay a portion of the Student Financial Assistance (SFA) award if he/she withdraws from the institution or reduces his/her course load before the 60 percent point of the enrollment period.

Reminders

  • In order to receive a loan disbursement, you must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours at the time funds are scheduled to be disbursed.
  • Pell disbursements are based on enrollment status for classes that have started. If enrollment in a late- start course changes enrollment status, students will receive another disbursement after the course has started and attendance is verified.

All applicants for financial aid at Nash Community College must:

  • Complete “The Free Application For Federal Student Aid” (FAFSA) to receive a “Student Aid Report” which determines eligibility. You can call 1-800-4FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) for assistance with the FASFA application.
  • If eligible, add Nash Community College to the FAFSA application. The federal school code for Nash Community College is 008557.
  • Complete the NCC Scholarship Application (Optional).

To receive financial aid a student must have a high school diploma from an accredited school or High School Equivalency and must be admitted to Nash Community College.

The Financial Aid Office reserves the right to ask for verification of financial information and uses the standards in the current verification guide of the US Department of Education.

Students should submit all paperwork to the financial aid office based on the following dates:

  • Fall Semester – June 1
  • Spring Semester – November 15
  • Summer Semester – April 1

Financial Aid is awarded on the basis of need and satisfactory academic progress. It is essential to apply early to be given priority consideration for aid since applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
